YouKnowIGotSoul: Talk to me about your writing process especially when you’re writing over a Timbaland or Danja beat because their music is very unorthodoxed.
Jim Beanz: It is unorthodox. What’s great about it is that you get to think outside the box as far as your creativity. You can’t have a song that has so many abstract sounds in it and have it come normal. It’s not easy, not everyone can do it. The greats are the ones that can make the craziest beats come to life with words and ideas. A lot of times it could from one sound that I hear one of their tracks and then I go off on a tangent and write from there
YouKnowIGotSoul: JoJo “Sexy To Me”
Jim Beanz: That was produced by Danja. Actually I met Danja first through Timbaland and over the years besides Britney Spears and Katharine McPhee, I had been working with Danja for at least 9 years. I ended up getting a phone call from Danja and he told me he was going in with JoJo and he wanted me to do on the writing and the top line for the project. Danja put on this crazy track and “Sexy To Me” is sort of like a flirty record, but I feel like I had to make sure JoJo killed the song vocally. Her vocals are slamming on that song. The girl is running and rifting. She’s a very talented artist. I’m blessed that I’ve had the chance to work with JoJo and Danja on it.
