  3. I like "Bet Ya Ain’t Know" the best, then "No Cigar", then "A Sight for Sore Eyes". Very interesting to hear these early tracks. Hints of what was to come, for sure. Thanks for posting!

  4. I was thinking the exact same thing when Edwin slipped me the tracks.

  5. When was the release date for the mixtape? That would help determine how far back we were technology wise. Which believe me, makes all the difference!

  11. @Flo...
    I heard it!!!

Nice to pick that one up...
    But it was faint hahaha

Do you think he subconsciously just uses that effect?
What i mean is... In his head, he must have a template of how he puts a beat together...
For example, I noticed he doesn't use that kind of melody until the verse is finished... or about to start ... or purely just as a filler... to make the sound.. more complete I guess

I don't even know what I'm saying now ahaha

  12. Lol you sound very clear to me: what you talk about is arrangement, aka how to make a song reach a good climax (hook), this is the role of what we call a pre chorus!

But i cant answer the rest of your question, as i'm not in danja's head! But from my experience, sometimes you just make something, a melody comes by, you nail it, then your friends tell you ' oh man funny u used that years ago in this song '!
Or, maybe he had that lil melody from a long time ago, it didnt have the exposure his productions have nowadays, and he decided to give it a new life!

    Dunno!

  13. That's the word
Arrangement... haha I'm such a noob

Honestly, when i use a particular sound I'd know full well if I came across it again...

so in that respect I think you're right about him giving it new life

  14. @JM & Flo:
Maybe this quote out of a Danja interview answers your question why he uses some sounds very often:

"Personally, I would do 50 tracks of that same sound, just keep on doing it, making it better, and find the best version. That’s why I’ll use a sound until it comes out, until it’s released on a single, or it’s released on an album then I won’t ever go back to it again"

  15. i had read it too, but it wont work, cuz the period when that cigar track was made isnt the same as that virginity song!

I completely get the way he works on sounds:
for exemple Hello good morning seems to be Rick Ro$$ ' No 1' cousin.. Obviously both these tracks were made in the same 'inspiration period'.

When he did My Love, i'm sure he did a shitload of tracks using this kind of blend (trance / rnb ) until the right one would work! And then once it's released, when he thinks he's done with 'this' kind of sound, he moves on!

Another example would be ' Ayo Technology ' and the other various tracks using that sid station sound :)

I could go on and on and on lol but as i said earlier, no one except the king can explain, this is just speculation :)

  19. Well, who's to say danja's inspiration with a certain sound doesn't span over years...
